The Sales Assistant performs a variety of clerical, administrative and sales support activities to support the Environmental Technology sales staff. The Sales Assistant is responsible for ensuring the smooth flow of information and follow up for existing and prospective customers. This position reports to the Sales Manager.

The Sales Assistant’s primary duties include but are not limited to:

  • Providing a consistently excellent customer service experience by maintaining the highest degree of courtesy, confidentiality and professionalism with internal and external customers.
  • Educating and engaging customers through the development of top level product knowledge and the ability to ask qualifying questions.
  • Processing sales and service leads by assuring leads are directed to the appropriate staff member as needed.
  • Performing trade show coordination assistance and follow up to assure timely lead generation, follow-up and delivery of literature and samples.
  • Performing ongoing phone contacts and campaigns to augment the efforts of the sales staff.
  • Processing of sales data, sales progress reports and other sales related records and reports.
  • Performing support for the two industry sectors leads with administrative tasks (setting up meetings, cold calls, client interviews, research, and others tasks as assigned)
  • Performing data entry to track the delivery of sales literature, product samples and other necessary services to customers as directed by the sales staff or management.
  • Performing duties associated with handling international inquiries, sales support and customer orders under the direction of the Sales Manager.
  • Answering telephone calls, conveying messages, and monitoring the flow of e-mail.
  • Answering routine product questions and directing questions to appropriate personnel when necessary.
  • Providing coverage for Customer Service Representatives as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • High school graduate with Technical Sales Experience or preferably a 2 or 4 year college graduate with technical sales and/or account management experience preferred.
  • Excellent telephone skills and computer knowledge with proficiency in database management, word processing and customer management, windows based programs.
  • Demonstrated proficiency composing written communications.
  • High energy level, comfortable performing multifaceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities.
  • The ability to multi-task in a fast paced team environment.
  • Resourceful, well organized, highly dependable, efficient and detail oriented.
  • 3-5 years previous job experience with customer service in a technical product environment or technical sales support experience.
  • Ability to travel occasionally to trade events or meeting.
  • Experience as a Sales Representative or Assistant to a Technical Sales Team supporting related industries (i.e. electronics, telecommunications, industrial controls, etc.) is ideal.
